My Biography
Hello there! I'm Arwin Nanntha. You can call me Arwin. I'm currently a Year 2 International Business Management student hailing from Ipoh, Perak; and have been here for close to two years now. I enjoy crafting, costume making, writing, etc.; and I love history, military-stuff, and animals. You'll probably encounter me in the uni somewhere like a rare NPC in a videogame, but hey, if you need me, I'll be there for you.
My Manifesto
"Make things easier." My goal is to improve upon the HWUMSA system, particularly within the Sports Department, to ensure better experiences and results for all participants in sports in this university, from the average player to to the clubs themselves to the HWUMSA sports department officers. The healthier the tree, the better the fruits produced.
What motivated me to nominate myself?
My main source of motivation is myself, my friend, and my sister. Currently being the Community Sports Officer in the HWUMSA Sports Department, I know the inner workings of said department and have already made moves to improve the system working closely with the current VPS. The position of VPS will provide me further power and knowledge to consolidate these and future plans not only faster but more efficiently. A close friend of mine gave me a boost in the form of their full support and assurance of my ability, and my sister sealed the deal by telling me the reality of final year projects (fyps) and of a final year in uni, so I will realistically be able to do justice to both my studies and this responsibility. Hence, I went for it.
My top three priorities
A) System improvement. Futher implement and consolidate the plans to solve current issues within our sports department. B) System maintenance. Ensure the HWUMSA system runs properly for all participants, from communication, paperwork, processes, etc. C) Improve the experiences and projects of the clubs. Done via appointing the righr people as officers and always being open to committee members for proper discussion, as communication up and down the chain of command is not only pertinent, but a priority.
What would I bring to the role?
What I bring to the table is: Inside experience: As stated before, I am the current community sports officer, and know the inner workings of the department. Meaning I can start working on my plans and improvement almost immediately. Leadership experience: During the IMPACT project for the Empowerment Programme in Year 1, I lead my team to become the group with the highest collection (11k+) for my charity organisation. I have found myself the leader of many a group projects where we did well. And as the Community Sports Officer, I've learnt to work with the many club presidents, fellow officers, and others. Basically, I believe I will bring competent management skills to the team. Ethos and drive: What it boils down to is I see myself as a student like everyone else who just wants to make things better for everyone, including myself. The position I'm running for is not anything greater than the average student for it is merely a position to more effectively serve the average student. I am no better or worse than anyone in this uni. I just want to help and am willing to work with anyone to achieve these goals. This position will just provide me a better ability to serve my fellow students. It's small changes I could bring that will hopefully make the university a better place for people.
