My Biography
Hello! My name is Chris, a current second year doing International Business Management, and I am running to be your next VP Wellbeing for HWUMSA 2026/2027! My vision is to build a campus where every student here feels seen and supported. As I am driven by purpose, advocacy, and inclusion, my ultimate goal is to foster a culture of wellbeing that empowers all of us to thrive.
My Manifesto
- Amplifying the voice and feedback of every student - Promoting mental and physical health awareness - Cultivating an inclusive campus environment - Committed leadership through action and empathy
What motivated me to nominate myself?
I am confident in my ability to effectively execute the tasks and responsibilities associated with being the Vice President of Wellbeing. I believe that every student is equal in their voice, no matter the position they hold. I also believe that I am equipped with the passion, dedication, and skills needed for contributing meaningfully as the Vice President of Wellbeing
My top three priorities
1. The Voice of Students As your VPW, I strive to prioritise the voices of students, ensuring that no student in Heriot Watt University Malaysia goes unheard. I will achieve this by utilising feedback channels, forums, and transparent conversations with as many students as possible. I will also collaborate with student representatives and Student Life staff to gain a broader understanding of the situation students may be in. 2. The Health of Students I aim to promote the awareness of mental and physical health of students, reducing the overall negative stereotype of mental health within the campus. Examples of this will include increasing awareness of numerous mental health services available on campus and organizing events and initiatives that will encourage healthy conversations about mental wellbeing. My priority in this sector is ensuring the students feel supported and confident in seeking out mental health resources whenever needed. 3. The Inclusivity of Students I strive to create an inclusive campus environment for all students, ensuring that students feel safe to talk to anyone, supported, and valued. I will promote the introduction of Wellbeing initiatives that are associated with the needs of the student population, as well as collaboration with numerous university bodies to further enhance these initiatives.
What would I bring to the role?
I will provide a holistic approach regarding my leadership. I bring responsibility, empathy, and organization to the role, making sure my officers are comfortable and motivated to perform the tasks delegated to them. I am someone who does more than listening; I take the concerns of students seriously, prioritising action when their voices are heard.
