My Biography

My name is Fahd, I'm a second-year Actuarial Science student gone global from the Edinburgh campus. I'm running for the role of student president with the intention of gaining valuable leadership experience and ensuring the betterment of your experience at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Starting fresh in a new environment has reinforced how critical belonging and purpose are for student success, and thus my vision for the university reflects these values.

My Manifesto

My vision is built on meaningful student representation, bountiful opportunity and ironclad sense of unity. As such, I'm driven to raise the bar for student prosperity, develop a more proactive and engaged community and to ensure students achieve their full potential, personally and academically.

What motivated me to nominate myself?

I have always been propelled by the concept of uplifting others and helping the people around me prosper. Through the conversations with students and my own experiences, I've seen directly how easy it is to drift through university without direction. I nominated myself because I believe in taking initiative, seeing things through and encouraging all voices to rise up, aim higher and reach their full potential.

My top three priorities

1. Genuine Student Inclusion

I want to ensure every student, society and group are heard and represented. To me this means actively engaging with and listening to different perspectives, considering all angles and making sure decisions reflect the interest of the wider student body.

2. A Better Everyday Campus Experience

Advocating for the improvement of facilities and services that affect studen life on a daily basis, whilst also pushing for fairer support and funding for clubs and initiatives that often feel overlooked.

3. More Confident Student Culture

Encouraging students to believe in themselves, take opportunity with both hands and engage more openly with university life.

What would I bring to the role?

1. Headstrong Initiative and Follow-Through

I don't wait around for change, I work toward it. I believe in seeing things fully through and taking responsibility.

2. Real and Direct Representation -

I bring a fresh perspective and a willingness to speak openly, share ideas and represent students honestly and confidently.

3. Proven Leadership and Community Experience

Through years of volunteering in my mosque's poverty relief programme and numerous other projects in my hometown (references available on request), I've developed strong leadership, teamwork and organisational skills. It's these real and practical experiences that have taught me how to lead initiatives, support a community and produce results
