My Biography
Hello! I’m Kerim and I’m currently a Year 2 student pursuing Accounting and Business Finance. I’m a passionate, motivated and disciplined leader with a strong vision and belief that our campus can bring much more to the student life experience. Through my previous roles as President of the Basketball Club, Accommodation Officer, and School of Social Sciences Officer in HWUMSA, I have gained first-hand experience working across different departments and representing student concerns. These roles have given me a clear understanding of the processes involved, as well as the benefits and limitations within student representation. As Vice President Academics, I aim to organise meaningful academic initiatives, strengthen engagement among class representatives, and ensure student feedback is communicated clearly and constructively to the relevant schools.
My Manifesto
• Organize more academic-focused events to enhance student-experience and real learning. • Strengthen collaboration and bonding among class representatives through regular bonding sessions. • Actively represent and voice real student academic concerns and ensure they are clearly addressed. • Maintain clear and consistent communication between students, class representatives, and schools
What motivated me to nominate myself?
Coming from the Academic Department myself, I understand how collaboration between students, class representatives, and schools shapes the academic experience. I want to take a more active role in ensuring student concerns are clearly communicated and translated into meaningful academic improvements, while maintaining calm, supportive and engaging environment.
My top three priorities
1) Organising more academic-focused events such as case studies, workshops, and skill-based sessions. 2) Strengthening engagement and collaboration among class representatives through regular bonding and discussion sessions. 3) Working closely with schools to improve academic coordination and communication between students and faculty.
What would I bring to the role?
As a VPA I envision bringing an actual impact which will benefit all the aspects of our campus. - Within HWUMSA, I am aiming to work on more academic-focused events, while ensuring the clarity and bond between officers and class reps. - In working with HWUM, I seek to represent the student voice with precision and determination. Every voice is important. - For individual students, I aim to make the Academic Department a more accessible and responsive entity, which will handle students concerns with care and respect.
