My Biography

My name is Mohammad Zarir Zehan, and I am 19 years old, currently studying Accounting and Business Finance. I have a strong interest in leadership and student engagement, and I am actively involved in campus activities through my roles in student organisations. Outside academics, I enjoy reading books, and I am especially passionate about politics and public affairs, which has shaped my interest in governance, responsibility, and serving the wider community.

My Manifesto

As Treasurer, I will uphold the core responsibilities with discipline — transparency, accountability, integrity, and proper financial controls. Beyond that, I will focus on bringing added value to HWUM through exposure and access.

My pledge is Trust First. Value Next. This means clear budgets and regular updates, efficient claims and reimbursements with a clear process and timeline, and strategic industry sharing sessions by inviting CFOs and senior leaders from public listed companies, GLCs, and banks to benefit the entire HWUM community.

What motivated me to nominate myself?

I nominated myself because I believe HWUMSA can be strengthened through both strong governance and real opportunities for students. I don’t want the Treasurer role to be limited to “back-end work” only, I want it to be a platform that builds trust in how funds are managed, while also creating meaningful value through networking and exposure. With my experience in student leadership and my access to reputable professionals, I am ready to serve and raise the standard for what a Treasurer can deliver.

My top three priorities

My Top Three Priorities if Elected

  1.  Transparent financial governance: clear budgeting, proper documentation, and consistent updates so students understand how funds are managed.

  2. Efficient claims and reimbursements: a clear procedure, checklist, and timeline to make processes smoother for clubs, societies, and teams.

  3. Opportunities through exposure: industry sharing sessions and community learning by bringing in credible financial and leadership professionals for HWUM.

What would I bring to the role?

I envision bringing a Treasurer who is not only reliable in financial management, but also proactive in building value for the student body. For HWUMSA, this means stronger trust, clearer processes, and improved governance. For HWUM as a community, it means wider exposure through sessions that connect students and staff with real industry insights. For individual students, it means better access to knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities, alongside a smoother experience when managing claims, reimbursements, and funding for activities. Ultimately, my goal is to make HWUMSA finances both trusted and impactful.
