How to reach me?
My Biography
Hi everyone, I’m Ken. I’m currently in my final year of the MBA program here at Heriot-Watt. I’m running for President because I’ve spent my time on this campus seeing exactly where we thrive and, more importantly, where we struggle. During my studies, I’ve worked closely with various departments to try and make student life more than just a series of deadlines. I’ve seen that when we listen to each other, we can make this place feel a lot more like a community and a lot less like just a campus.
My Manifesto
My goal is simple I want to make sure the Student Association is a place where your concerns don’t just get filed away but get answered. I’m committed to using what I’ve learned in my MBA to fight for a university experience that is supportive, inclusive, and honestly, just better for all of us.
What motivated me to nominate myself?
I am running for President because I believe the student experience at Heriot-Watt should be defined by more than just academic it should be defined by a community that truly supports your wellbeing. My mission is to bridge the gap between the student body and university management, ensuring that every initiative from mental health support to campus life is built around your real-world needs. I am not just asking to lead the Student Association. I would also ensure that all student feels heard, supported, and empowered to succeed during their studies here in Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
My top three priorities
1. Real support for real student life I want to focus on the things that make a difference to your daily lives better mental health support and facilities that meet your needs. Whether you’re a Foundation, Undergraduate or Postgraduate student, you deserve a support system that catches you when things get tough and helps you thrive when you’re doing well. 2. A campus where you belong Heriot-Watt is a global community, and our campus life should reflect that. I’m not just talking about more social events I’m talking about creating a space where everyone, no matter where they’re from or what they’re studying, feels like they truly belong. From inclusive leadership programs to networking events that celebrate our different backgrounds, I want to build a culture where our diversity is our biggest strength, and no one feels like an outsider. 3. A voice that gets heard I’m here to make sure your concerns don’t just end up in a suggestion box that never gets opened. My goal is to bridge the gap between us and the university management. I want to bring transparency to how decisions are made, so you’re never left wondering “why.” By pushing for more student-led initiatives, I want to give you the platform to shape your own university experience.
What would I bring to the role?
1. Constant growth for a better campus I believe the Student Association should never stand still. My commitment is to keep HWUMSA evolving alongside you. I’m focused on continuous improvement listening to your feedback and adapting our support to meet the challenges you face today. We’re building a more dynamic, supportive campus, one where every student has the space to grow. 2. Your voice, front and centre Advocacy isn't just about speaking up; it’s about being in the room where decisions are made. I am committed to making sure university policies reflect what students need. To me, that means more transparency and a culture of genuine inclusivity where every student regardless of their background knows their voice has a direct line to the people in charge.
